All DirectSmile Server products require a MS SQL Server Standard Edition or Web Edition or higher. Test systems can use the free Express edition. Pleace not that we can't provide any Microsoft license information. Please contact your Microsoft partner for more information. Technically there are the following options available: |

SQL Server is already available |
|
|
If a proper SQL Server is already used in your organization, use it if a fast connection and access rights can be provided. |

|
|
|
|
If you should rent a dedicated server at a professional ISP, there is often the option to rent the SQL Server on top. For usual usage the Web Edition is good enough as it has the lowest license costs. |

|
|
|
SQL Server on hardware with less processor cores |
|
|
For inhouse hosting without any existing MS SQL Server it might be smart to install it on a separate system with two cores only to save license costs. This Server should have enough RAM (min 8 GB) and a fast connection to the DirectSmile Server. |
