New DirectSmile Cross Media Server Part 2
Server recommendations:
- Firewall
- High bandwidth (min 100Mbit/s)
- Save location (professional provider)
- Windows Server 2012 or higher (can host multiple certificates)
- NAS or RAID10 Storage for backups and fast data access
Firewall
It’s that simple: For security reasons we recommend a hardware firewall between the internet and your server.
Bandwidth
The bandwidth must be high enough to ensure a fluent page loading at high peaks of campaigns. Generally you can say that everything below 100Mbit/s is not enough. For transfer of print files and hosting of personalized websites for huge target groups, more than 100Mbit/s might be necessary. You should take the guaranteed bandwidth as an important criteria for your decision regarding the servers location.
Server Location
The benefits of a professional data center are obvious. No power failures, best fire protection and cooling systems. On top of that, professional data center can provide a proper bandwidth. For seasonal access peaks a dynamic scalable cloud service might be the best choice. This means project work and should be proposed individually.
Windows Server 2012
The Operating System Windows Server 2012 has, amongst others, an important benefit. Since Version IIS 8 it is possible to use multiple certificates for one IP-address port pair. That means multiple domains can be provided with SSL encryption.
Microsoft SQL-Server Web Edition
We recommend to rent the MS SQL-Server Web Edition, as it's providing the best performance and pricing.
Storage
DirectSmile Cross Media requires a fast and failsafe file system Certain folders require speed and safety together.
